May 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of the passing of Kamehameha I. The life and legacy of Kamehameha has been represented and remembered in a variety of ways. The 2019 Hawaiian Historical Calendar features photographs that capture the events, places, and artwork relating to Kamehameha’s life and the way he is remembered.

As always, the calendar’s pages are filled with notes about significant dates and interesting facts of Hawaiʻi’s history.

Many photographs in the calendar are from the collections of the Hawaiian Historical Society, that date from the 1830s through 2018.
