The Hawaiian Historical Society’s annual Hawaiian history calendar for 2012 is now available. The calendar includes significant dates and interesting facts in Hawai‘i’s history, local holidays, and the phases of the moon.
The theme of the 2012 calendar is Hawaiian hula images through the years, from the 1836 lithograph of a hula performance on the front cover to 1946 musicians and dancers in the garden behind the Queen Emma Summer Palace. These images illustrate changes to hula costumes over time. They were selected from photographs in the Hawaiian Historical Society library.
The Hawaiian Historical Society 2012 calendar is available directly from the Society for $8.00 (members’ price) plus $3.00 postage. HHS life members will receive a complimentary copy.
The calendar will also be available for sale at the Mission Houses gift shop and at Native Books in Ward Warehouse. Bulk rates are also available.
