Miss Annie C. Hustace, driver, and friends in their decorated Ford Model T automobile for the 1914 Mid-Pacific Carnival Floral Parade. Beginning in 1904, it became an annual event until 1918, when steamships that carried tourists to Hawai‘i were withdrawn to become troop carriers in World War I. The Mid-Pacific Carnival was then canceled. (Photographer unknown. HHS #2246.) |
