The 2008 History of Hawai‘i Calendar

The Hawaiian Historical Society is pleased to present its annual History of Hawai‘i Calendar for 2008. The calendar features significant dates in Hawai‘i’s history and firsts in Hawai‘i. This year for the first time, the calendar includes the phases of the moon.

The 2008 calendar features images taken in 1912 from a photograph album of Kīlauea Sugar Plantation on Kaua‘i Island. This is the H. W. Thomas photograph album, which was donated to the Hawaiian Historical Society in 2002. Most of the photographs portray plantation work at Kīlauea, but Henry W. Thomas and Gertrude Thomas also documented luncheons, picnics, and other social events.
