Now Available The 2007 History of Hawai‘i Calendar |
The Hawaiian Historical Society is pleased to present its annual History of Hawai‘i Calendar for 2007. Included in the calendar are significant dates and interesting facts relating to the ali‘i; natural, social, and political events; and firsts in Hawai‘i. Also featured are dates for holidays and events of local importance such as Prince Kūhiō Day and the Merrie Monarch Festival. The 2007 calendar features a selection of illustrations of the Hawaiian Islands found in hitorical narratives of voyages to Hawai‘i and the Pacific during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Those included in the calendar cover the years 1778 to 1849. These early images of Hawai‘i by English, French, and Russian artists provide a glmpse of our islands before the invention of photography.
