HAWAIIAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY members, at their annual membership meeting on May 6, 2010, re-elected John Clark to a new term as president of the Hawaiian Historical Society Board of Trustees for May 2010–2011. Clark is the author of the Beaches of Hawai‘i series, seven books published by the University of Hawai‘i Press. His newest book, Hawaiian Surfing: Traditions from the Past, is scheduled for release at the end of this year.
Others elected to the Society’s Board of Trustees for May 2010–2013 are: Dr. Noelani Arista, assistant professor of history, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa; John Clark, author and shoreline planning consultant; Victoria Nālani Kneubuhl, freelance researcher and writer; Glenn E. Mason, AIA, principal with Mason Architects, Inc.; and James K. Mee, attorney with Ashford & Wriston.
Dr. Arista was elected to a first three-year term, and the other nominees were elected to second three-year terms.
Trustees continuing on the board are: Ian Birnie; Ty P. Kawika Tengan, Ph.D.; Craig Howes, Ph.D.; David Akana Keliikuli; Nanette Naioma Napoleon; M. Puakea Nogelmeier, Ph.D.; Gary A. Okamoto, M.D.; John Rosa, Ph.D.; Jim Rumford; and Janet Zisk.
